Regular Season Round 15: Caceres - Burgos 75-68

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Caceres Basket (7-8) won against at home 4th placed Burgos (9-6) 75-68 on Wednesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-16. But Burgos won second period 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for British guard Benjamin Mockford (188-89, college: St.Francis, NY, agency: Octagon Europe) who led his team to a victory with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Jose Antonio Marco (179-89) contributed with 9 points and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Eduardo Martinez (202-90) answered with 16 points and guard Rafael Huertas (191-84, agency: Court Side) added 11 points in the effort for Burgos. Four Burgos players scored in double figures. Burgos' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Caceres Basket have a solid series of three victories in a row. Caceres Basket moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Breogan and Coruna. Loser Burgos keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Caceres Basket will face higher ranked Castello (#7) in Castellon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Burgos will play on the road against FC Barcelona II and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
