Rather expected game when 6th ranked Shahrdari Gorgan (9-7) was crushed on the road by third ranked Naft Abadan (12-4) 94-72 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Naft Abadan. Shahrdari Gorgan managed to win third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naft Abadan forced 21 Shahrdari Gorgan turnovers. Bosnian point guard Zlatko Jovanovic (181-84, agency: Beo Basket) fired 17 points and 7 assists for the winners. International Mohammad Jamshidi (199-91) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. The former international guard Benny Koochoie (190-86, college: CS Stanislaus) produced 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and British power forward Ryan Richards (212-91, agency: Three Eye Sports) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Naft Abadan and four Shahrdari Gorgan players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Naft Abadan have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Shahrdari Gorgan at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Naft Abadan will meet Chemidor (#5) in the next round. Shahrdari Gorgan will play against Samen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
