Regular Season Round 25: Qingdao E. - Shandong FB 119-120

Tenth-ranked Qingdao Eagles (11-14) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Shandong Bulls (18-7) on Friday. The visitors from Jinan managed to secure only one-point victory 120-119. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Qingdao Eagles. Qingdao Eagles were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Shandong Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Qingdao Eagles' 50. American forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 30 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) accounted for 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Four Shandong Bulls players scored in double figures. American center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) came up with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and the other American import point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) added 46 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Qingdao Eagles in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Shandong Bulls. They maintain fourth place with 18-7 record, which they share with Liaoning H. Loser Qingdao Eagles dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Shandong Bulls will meet Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (#8) in the next round. Qingdao Eagles will play against Fujian and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
