Regular Season Round 12: Meteors - DCU Mercy 60-67

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Dublin: DCU Mercy (#1) and Meteors (#4). Meteors were defeated at home 60-67 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Meteors. They outrebounded Meteors 50-33 including 35 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Chelisa Painter (185, college: ODU) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Mairead McNally (175-88, college: Stetson) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Meghan McGuinness (178, college: Niagara) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Emily Leer (188-92, college: Villanova) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. DCU Mercy have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 10-1 record. Meteors at the other side dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. DCU Mercy are looking forward to face league's second-placed TM Hotel Cork on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Meteors will play against Liffey Celtics in Kildare and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
