Regular Season Round 12: Sydney - Melbourne 86-78

Date: January 2, 2016
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Sydney Uni Flames (11-5) beat at home 7th ranked Boomers (7-10) 86-78. It looked good early as Boomers took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sydney Uni Flames took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 8 points. The best player for the winners was American center Carolyn Swords (198-89, college: Boston Coll., agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). The other American import forward Joslyn Tinkle (190-90, college: Stanford) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Sydney Uni Flames players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was international swingman Alice Kunek (187-91) who recorded 24 points and 6 rebounds and the former international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) added 16 points respectively. Sydney Uni Flames have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Perth and Townsville. Boomers lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with ten games lost. Sydney Uni Flames' next round opponent will be Dandenong Rangers (#5) on the road. Boomers will play against Bendigo Spirit and hope to win that game.
