Regular Season Round 26: Qingdao E. - Fujian QB 135-138 OT

Fujian (11-15) outlasted Qingdao Eagles (11-15) in overtime by three points 138-135 on Sunday night. The game took place in Qingdao. But the guests from Jinjiang were better at the end. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Qingdao Eagles won third quarter 27-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Qingdao Eagles used huge pressure winning it 35-28 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 14-17. Fujian shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Lebanese swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) who had a double-double by scoring 48 points (!!!), 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Dwight Buycks (191-89, college: Marquette) chipped in 41 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 8 assists. American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) produced 48 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 7 assists (was perfect 18-for-18 from the free throw line !!!) and his fellow American import center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) added 31 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Fujian moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Qingdao E. Fujian will meet at home higher ranked Liaoning Hunters (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Qingdao Eagles will play against Beijing Ducks (#7) and hope to secure a win.
