Regular Season Round 14: Zamarat - Gipuzkoa UPV 48-55

Everything could happen in Zamora at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Gipuzkoa UPV and 9th ranked Zamarat had identical 5-8 record. But Zamarat was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from San Sebastian 55-48 on Sunday night. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 19-10. But Zamarat won second period 15-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gipuzkoa UPV held Zamarat to an opponent 22.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 28.3 percent accuracy of the winners and made 22-of-24 free shots (91.7 percent) during the game. American center Cierra Bravard (193-89, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 19 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Onintza Aduriz (183-91) contributed with 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Gipuzkoa UPV players scored in double figures. Portuguese center Sofia Silva (187-90) replied with 13 points and 8 rebounds and Slovenian center Sandra Pirsic (196-84) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for Zamarat. Gipuzkoa UPV have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with CREF Hola. Loser Zamarat dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Gipuzkoa UPV will face Gran Canaria (#11) in Las Palmas in the next round. Zamarat will play on the road against Universitario de Ferrol and hope to win that game.
