Very important is a road loss of third ranked Twarde Pierniki (11-4) against fourth ranked Anwil (11-4) on Monday night. Visiting Twarde Pierniki was defeated by Anwil in Wloclawek 82-67. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Twarde Pierniki. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Anwil's pressure prevailed and they won that period 27-14 extending their advantage to 15 points. They made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Anwil outrebounded Twarde Pierniki 38-20 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Czech swingman David Jelinek (196-90) scored 24 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and Russian Fedor Dmitriev (204-84, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 12 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Anwil players scored in double figures. American point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) responded with 18 points and 4 assists and the former international Lukasz Wisniewski (186-84, college: Barton Co. CC, agency: Promotex) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anwil have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Torun. Anwil will play against MKS Start (#14) in Lublin in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Twarde Pierniki will play at home against the league's second-placed Rosa (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
