We should mention about the upset which took place in Tel-Aviv, where higher ranked Maccabi Haifa (8-6) lost to ninth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (7-9) in a road game 74-85 on Tuesday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Maccabi Haifa. The game without a history. Hapoel Tel-Aviv led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Hapoel Tel-Aviv looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. American guard Chester Simmons (196-82, college: Washington) chipped in 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. American swingman William Graves (198-88, college: N.Carolina) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Maccabi Haifa's coach Rami Hadar gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hapoel Tel-Aviv have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place. Loser Maccabi Haifa dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will face higher ranked Ironi Nahariya (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi Haifa will play against Maccabi K/G and hope to win that game.
