Regular Season Round 13: Civitanova - Empoli 52-67

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Empoli (7-6) beat 10th ranked Civitanova (5-8) in Civitanova Marche 67-52 on Wednesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Empoli's pressure prevailed and they won that period 17-8 extending their advantage to 15 points. They also forced 19 Civitanova turnovers. Civitanova was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Francesca Rosellini (176-90) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Empoli's coach Alessio Cioni used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Veronica Perini (175-88) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Marica Gomes (168-78) added 14 points and 5 steals in the effort for Civitanova. Empoli moved-up to sixth place in A2. Loser Civitanova keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Empoli will face higher ranked Palermo (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Civitanova will play against Bologna (#4) and hope to win that game.
