Regular Season Round 13: Milano - Costa Masnaga 75-77

A very close game took place in Milano between Costa Masnaga and Milano. Eleventh ranked Costa Masnaga (5-8) got a very close victory on the road over much higher ranked Milano (9-4). Costa Masnaga managed to escape with a 2-point win 77-75 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Milano was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Costa Masnaga forced 27 Milano turnovers. Strangely Milano outrebounded Costa Masnaga 42-25 including 18 on the offensive glass. Slovenian guard Katarina Ristic (170-84, agency: Two Points) nailed 26 points and 5 steals for the winning side and forward Masha Maiorano (180-82, agency: Two Points) accounted for 14 points. Forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) came up with 29 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Federica Pozzecco (172-93) added 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Milano in the defeat. Costa Masnaga moved-up to tenth place in A2. Loser Milano dropped to the third position with four games lost. Costa Masnaga will meet Virtus Cagliari (#14) on the road in the next round. Milano will play against San Salvatore (#8) and hope to secure a win.
