Regular Season Round 20: Salon Vilpas - Kouvot 81-73

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Kouvot (12-9) against eighth ranked Salon Vilpas (9-11) on Wednesday night. Visiting Kouvot was defeated by Salon Vilpas in a tough game in Salo 73-81. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kouvot. It looked good early as Kouvot took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Salon Vilpas had a 30-18 second period charge getting the lead and Kouvot was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-81. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Doug Wiggins (185-88, college: Mountain St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists and the other American import Austin Dufault (205-90, college: Colorado) who added 24 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. American forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St.) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international Ville Kaunisto (205-82, agency: Court Side) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Salon Vilpas moved-up to seventh place. Kouvot at the other side dropped to the fourth position with nine games lost. Salon Vilpas will play against BC Nokia (#8) on the road in the next round. Kouvot will play against Helsinki Seagulls (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
