Regular Season Round 28: Gigantes - Santos 76-78

Bottom-ranked Santos managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted Santos edged seventh-ranked Gigantes in Toluca 78-76. Strangely Gigantes outrebounded Santos 47-34 including 17 on the offensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Chris Cayole (201-85, college: St.Michael's) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Mark Borders (188-82, college: Tampa) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Gigantes. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Santos (7-19) moved-up to ninth place. Gigantes lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 16 games lost. Santos will play against bottom-ranked Ciudad (#11) in Ciudad Juarez in the next round. Gigantes will play on the road against Halcones Rojos in Veracruz and hope to get back on the winning track.
