Regular Season Round 13: Salerno - Bologna 59-71

Date: January 6, 2016
Very expected game when 14th ranked Salerno (2-11) lost at home to fourth ranked Bologna (8-5) 71-59 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 23-7 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Bologna dominated on the defensive end, holding Salerno to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 20 Salerno turnovers. Quite impressive performance for guard Chiara Mini (165-86) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Point guard Elisabetta Tassinari (175-94) contributed with 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Tagliamento Marzia answered with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Lucrezia Costa (182-97) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Salerno. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Bologna maintains fourth place in A2 with 8-5 record. Loser Salerno keeps the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. Bologna will face Civitanova (#10) in Civitanova Marche in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Salerno will play on the road against Viterbo (#8) and hope to win that game.
