Regular Season Round 16: Ortona - Taranto 91-61

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Ortona (11-5) outleveled at home 13th ranked Taranto (4-12) 91-61 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Taranto 40-23 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ortona shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Manuel Diomede (188-90, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 assists and center Arcangelo Leo (203-81) who added 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Ortona players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Stefano Poti (192-91) responded with 14 points and 7 assists and center Luca Malfatti (202-90) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ortona moved-up to fourth place in B, which they share with Crema. Loser Taranto keeps the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Ortona will face Porto S.Elpidio (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Taranto will play against the league's second-placed San Severo (#2) and hope to win that game.
