Regular Season Round 11: Al Gharafa - Al Arabi 73-60

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#3) and Al Arabi (#8). Al Gharafa (9-1) won against visiting Al Arabi (2-8) 73-60. The game without a history. Al Gharafa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Al Arabi to just 7 points in second quarter. Al Gharafa players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a great evening for Senegalese Habib Ndoye (-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) helped adding 22 points and 12 rebounds. Four Al Gharafa players scored in double figures. American center Todd O'Brien (211-89, college: UAB) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 27 rebounds and the other American import point guard Temi Soyebo (183-84, college: NC-Wilmington) produced a triple-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists. Al Gharafa have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Al Sadd and Al Rayyan. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. Al Gharafa will play against Al Khor (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Qatar Sports Club.
