The game in Jurmala supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked VEF Riga (8-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Jurmala (8-9). VEF Riga smashed Jurmala 86-65. The game without a history. VEF Riga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. VEF Riga had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Jurmala's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international Janis Berzins (201-93) chipped in 14 points. Four VEF Riga players scored in double figures. Ukrainian center Oleksandr Kushnirov (208-92) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Ugis Pinete (194-91) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for VEF Riga. Defending champion maintains fifth place with 8-2 record. Jurmala lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. VEF Riga will have a break next round. Jurmala will play on the road against Barons Riga (#9) and hope to win that game.
