There was a surprise result when seventh ranked Monsummano (10-6) won against at home higher ranked Piacenza (12-4) 70-61 on Wednesday. Monsummano forced 19 Piacenza turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Andrea Maggiotto (194-88) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds and forward Gabriele Giarelli (197-93) who added 14 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Giovanni Gasparin (187-91, agency: Interperformances) responded with 15 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Matteo Soragna (198-75) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Monsummano moved-up to sixth place in B. Loser Piacenza keeps the third position with four games lost. Monsummano will face higher ranked Cento (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Piacenza will play against Valsesia and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Serie A2 just one year after relegation.
