Halcones Rojos managed to secure a 6-point victory 88-82. The winners were led by forward Jose Gutierrez (197-88) who scored that evening 28 points and center Jose Zesati (205-94) supported him with 11 points. Even 38 points (!!!) and 6 steals by naturalized American forward James Sandoval (196-87, college: Sonoma St.) did not help to save the game for Abejas. The former international point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) added 16 points and 4 assists for lost side. Four Abejas players scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Fuerza Regia. Abejas at the other side keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Halcones Rojos' next round opponent will be Gigantes (#8) in Toluca where they are favorite. Abejas will play on the road against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
