The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Gaiteros' (1-5) road loss to sixth ranked Panteras (3-3) in Caracas 75-83 on Thursday. Gaiteros were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Panteras made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Panteras outrebounded Gaiteros 38-21 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) notched 28 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Jose Juan Bravo (202-86, agency: Pro Sports) supported him with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 29 points by American-Dominican guard O'Darien Bassett (189-86, college: Troy) did not help to save the game for Gaiteros. Nigerian-American power forward Reggie Okosa (208-80, college: La Salle) added 20 points and 6 rebounds. Gaiteros' coach Jorge Arrieta let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Panteras moved-up to fifth place. Gaiteros lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Trotamundos and Gigantes. Panteras' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Caracas .
