Regular Season Round 18: Naft Abadan - Shah.Tabriz 75-65

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Shah.Tabriz (2-15) was defeated on the road by third ranked Naft Abadan (13-5) 75-65 on Thursday. Naft Abadan forced 25 Shah.Tabriz turnovers. Shah.Tabriz was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was international Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Bosnian point guard Zlatko Jovanovic (181-84, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 25 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian center Akinlolu Akingbala (208-83, college: Clemson, agency: Octagon Europe) who recorded 16 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Mohammad Sistani (181-86) added 14 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naft Abadan moved-up to second place, which they share with Arak. Shah.Tabriz lost fifteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Naft Abadan will face Azad (#5) in Tehran in the next round. Shah.Tabriz will play at home against Army (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
