Regular Season Round 18: Samen - Chemidor 73-77 OT

Seventh-ranked Samen (7-11) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Chemidor (12-5) in Mash'had on Thursday. The visitors from Tehran managed to secure only four-point victory 77-73. However their fans expected easier game. Samen was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 22-13 charge of Chemidor, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-8. Chemidor forced 23 Samen turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Chemidor made 7 blocks. Samen was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Amir Sedighi (203-93) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Farid Aslani (183-88) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) who recorded 25 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Erfan Nasajpour (177-84) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists respectively. Samen's coach Mehran Hatami rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chemidor moved-up to fourth place. Samen at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Chemidor will face Shahrdari Gorgan (#6) at home in the next round. Samen will play against the league's leader Petrochimi and hope to win that game.
