Very expected game in Bandar Imam where 8th ranked Army (3-14) was rolled over by first ranked Petrochimi (14-4) 89-52 on Thursday. The game without a history. Petrochimi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Petrochimi forced 27 Army turnovers and outrebounded them 45-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Army was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was international swingman Saeed Davarpanah (190-87, agency: Interperformances) who scored 21 points. International Behnam Yakhchali (197-95) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Petrochimi players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Saleh Foroutannik (207-94) who recorded 13 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Hamed Beigi (188-95) added 7 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petrochimi maintains first position with 14-4 record. Newly promoted Army keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost. Petrochimi will face Samen (#7) in Mash'had in the next round where they are favorite. Army will play on the road against Shah.Tabriz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
