Regular Season Round 14: Taipans - Crocodiles 75-61

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Townsville Crocodiles' (7-14) road loss to sixth ranked Cairns Taipans (9-11) 61-75. The game was mostly controlled by Cairns Taipans. Townsville Crocodiles was better in fourth quarter 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cairns Taipans made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. International guard Cameron Gliddon (196-89, college: Concordia Irvine) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 5 assists. American forward Torrey Craig (198-90, college: USC Upstate) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) replied with 12 points and 8 rebounds and guard Mirko Djeric (191-95) added 15 points in the effort for Townsville Crocodiles. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cairns Taipans maintains sixth position with 9-11 record. Townsville Crocodiles at the other side keep the seventh place with 14 games lost. Cairns Taipans' next round opponent will be league's leader United in Melbourne and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Townsville Crocodiles will play at home against Adelaide 36ers (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
