Regular Season Round 15: Universo/Vitoria - B.Cearense 60-71

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked SKY/Basquete (8-6) beat 10th ranked Universo/Vitoria (5-9) in Salvador 71-60. The game was mostly controlled by SKY/Basquete. Universo/Vitoria was better in second period 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Universo/Vitoria to just 7 points in first quarter. The best player for the winners was the former international Tiago Lima (201-81) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. The former international point guard David Rossetto (180-93) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Four SKY/Basquete players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Edu de Oliveira (195-83, college: E.Oklahoma St. JC) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) added 10 points, 5 assists and 8 steals respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. SKY/Basquete have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 8-6 record. Newly promoted Universo/Vitoria dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. SKY/Basquete's next round opponent will be higher ranked Mogi (#4) in Mogi das Cruzes and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Universo/Vitoria will play on the road against Sao Jose/Vinac (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
