Regular Season Round 16: Mulhouse - Caen 66-71

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Caen (9-7) beat on the road 12th ranked Mulhouse Basket (7-8) 71-66 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-18. But Mulhouse Basket won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Caen won last quarter 18-15. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Etienne Plateau (192-86) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Romain Gregoire (200-91) who added 15 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Caen players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Anthony Brown (203-86, college: Oklahoma St., agency: Inception Sports) responded with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Parfait Njiba (198-89, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 17 points. Caen moved-up to sixth place, which they share with SAP Vaucluse. Mulhouse Basket lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Caen will face UB Chartres (#14) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mulhouse Basket will play against Berck and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
