Regular Season Round 16: SAP Vaucluse - Vitre 85-84

Seventeenth-ranked Vitre (3-12) gave a tough game to ninth ranked SAP Vaucluse (9-7) in Sorgues on Friday. SAP Vaucluse managed to secure only one-point victory 85-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-23. But Vitre won second period 22-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Vitre 34-23 including a 22-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Jonusas (200-82) fired 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Antoine Liorel (181-89) chipped in 23 points and 4 assists. American Wilbert Brown (199-84, college: Niagara) produced 21 points and Desmond Quincy-Jones (201-85, college: Pace) added 18 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SAP Vaucluse moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Caen. Newly promoted Vitre keeps the seventeenth position with 12 games lost. SAP Vaucluse will meet higher ranked Aix-Maurienne (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vitre will play against JSA Bordeaux (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
