Regular Season Round 14: Brindisi - La Spezia 51-73

Serie A2 top team - La Spezia (14-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Brindisi (3-11) 73-51. The game without a history. La Spezia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. La Spezia forced 22 Brindisi turnovers. The best player for the winners was Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Marta Granzotto (175-92) chipped in 17 points. Four La Spezia players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Valentina Siccardi (182-82) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Luigia Boccadamo (175-94) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted La Spezia maintains first position in A2 with 14-0 record. Brindisi at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the thirteenth place with 11 games lost. La Spezia will meet at home Bologna (#4) in the next round. Brindisi will play against Irpino (#9) in Ariano Irpino and hope to secure a win.
