Regular Season Round 13: Andujar - Velez 68-61

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Velez (4-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Andujar (6-3) 68-61 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 16-9. But Velez won second period 18-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Andujar forced 20 Velez turnovers. Center Joaquin Garcia (202-86) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Daniel Munoz (188-87) chipped in 15 points. Four Andujar players scored in double figures. Forward Ismael Sanchez (193-83) produced 17 points and forward Javier Meras (194-82) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Andujar maintains third place in Group D-East with 6-3 record having eleven points less than leader L'Hospitalet, which they share with Cordoba. Newly promoted Velez keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Andujar will face CAM E.Soler (#8) in Melilla in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Velez will play at home against Novaschool and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
