Regular Season Round 13: Benidorm - L`Alfas 88-89

A very interesting game took place in Benidorm. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 8th ranked Benidorm (3-9) to fifth ranked L`Alfas (6-5) 89-88 on Saturday evening. The guests were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 20-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. L`Alfas made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Guard Alejandro Martin (193-94) nailed 22 points and 8 assists for the winning side and Belarusian power forward Ivan Zhauniarovich (205-86) accounted for 18 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Francisco Solsona (198-89) came up with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Javier Rodriguez (202-84) added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Benidorm in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted L`Alfas maintains fifth place in Group E with 6-5 record. Benidorm lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. L`Alfas' next round opponent will be league's leader Gandia Basquet at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Benidorm will play against the league's second-placed Almassera (#2) in Valencia and hope to win that game.
