Rather expected game in Vitoria-Gasteiz where 8th ranked Arxil Pontevedra (7-6) was defeated by sixth ranked Araski AES (9-4) 64-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Araski AES. Arxil Pontevedra was better in fourth quarter 20-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Arxil Pontevedra to just 7 points in second quarter. Araski AES forced 24 Arxil Pontevedra turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. Argentinian forward Maria Lineira (181-83) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Arrate Agirre (175-93) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Araski AES players scored in double figures. Araski AES's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Ana Roman (192-82) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and point guard Carla Fernandez (168-89) added 2 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Araski AES. They moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Aros Leon and Adareva. Loser Arxil Pontevedra dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Araski AES will face league's second-placed GDKO Bizkaia in Galdakao in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arxil Pontevedra will play on the road against Cortegada (#9) in Vilagarcia Arousa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
