Regular Season Round 13: TAKE Tolosa - Zarautz 62-45

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked TAKE Tolosa (4-5) won against at home 13th ranked Zarautz (2-7) 62-45 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by TAKE Tolosa. Zarautz was better in second period 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Zarautz to just 5 points in third quarter. TAKE Tolosa dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Zarautz's 20. TAKE Tolosa forced 21 Zarautz turnovers and outrebounded them 42-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. Guard Lander Lasa (193-88) fired 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Benat Azaldegi (196-94) chipped in 7 points and 11 rebounds. Estanislao Andres (185-90) produced 13 points and point guard Jon Saez (182-90) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. TAKE Tolosa moved-up to seventh place in Group A-A, which they share with Cantbasket. Zarautz lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. TAKE Tolosa will face higher ranked Estela (#5) in Santander in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zarautz will play at home against Valladolid Univ. (#6) and hope to win that game.
