Regular Season Round 13: Mondragon - Pielagos 106-107

Tenth-ranked Mondragon (2-7) made lots of trouble for leader Pielagos (9-0) on Saturday. The visitors from Renedo de Pielagos managed to secure only one-point victory 107-106. However their fans expected much easier game. Pielagos looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Guard David Garcia (192-80) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 18 assists for the winners and forward Miguel Molina (197-89) chipped in 26 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side Gorka Arejolaleiba (-81) responded with 32 points and point guard Imanol Ceciaga (186-90) scored 21 points and 9 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mondragon's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pielagos have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group A-A with 9-0 record. Mondragon lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with seven games lost. They share it with Zarautz. Pielagos will meet Santurtzi (#4) on the road in the next round. Mondragon will play against Easo (#3) in San Sebastian and hope to secure a win.
