There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Real Madrid II (4-6) smashed at home much higher ranked Quintanar (8-2) 78-56 on Saturday. Real Madrid II made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Real Madrid II outrebounded Quintanar 43-29 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quintanar was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward David Marina (202-88, agency: Octagon Europe) fired 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Center Francisco Salvador (199-99) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Chadian center Placide Nakidjim (205-94) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and Cuban point guard Taylor Garcia (182-87) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid II moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with Alcobendas. Loser Quintanar still keeps top position with two games lost. Real Madrid II will face La Roda (#14) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Quintanar will play against Alcobendas (#8) and hope to win that game.
