Regular Season Round 16: ASVEL - Chalons-Reims 84-63
Date: January 9, 2016
Very predictable result when fourth ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (12-4) smashed at home 12th ranked Chalons-Reims (6-10) 84-63. The game was mostly controlled by ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. Chalons-Reims was better in fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by Australian center David Andersen (213-80) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and American swingman David Lighty (195-88, college: Ohio St.) supported him with 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds by center Garry Florimont (203-87) did not help to save the game for Chalons-Reims. American forward Drew Gordon (205-90, college: N.Mexico) added 10 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Chalons-Reims at the other side dropped to the thirteenth place with ten games lost. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will play against league's second-placed Gravelines-Dunkerque on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chalons-Reims will play against Entente Orleans 45 (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
