Regular Season Round 16: La Rochelle - Quimper 85-90

An interesting game took place in La Rochelle where higher ranked La Rochelle (8-8) was upset on its own court by sixteenth ranked Quimper UJAP (6-10) 90-85 on Saturday. Quimper UJAP made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 La Rochelle turnovers. La Rochelle was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import point guard Omar Strong (175-90, college: Texas Southern) who added 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Burke is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side guard Faycal Sahraoui (186-79) responded with 21 points and 4 assists and American forward William Walker (200-87, college: Bethel, IN, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Quimper UJAP moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Bordeaux. Loser La Rochelle keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Quimper UJAP will face higher ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
