The game in Bertrange was also quite interesting. Third ranked Musel Pikes (11-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Sparta (5-10). Musel Pikes defeated Sparta 89-78 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Musel Pikes. Sparta managed to win third quarter 17-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Sparta outrebounded Musel Pikes 44-24 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American power forward Clancy Rugg (203-91, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Jarmar Gulley (196-91, college: Missouri St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) chipped in 26 points and 4 assists. Four Musel Pikes players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Dean Gindt (201-91) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Augie Johnston (185-86, college: CS Monterey) added 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for Musel Pikes. They maintain third place with 11-4 record having four points less than leader Amicale. Sparta lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Residence. Musel Pikes will meet at home bottom-ranked Contern (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sparta will play against Basket Esch (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
