Regular Season Round 14: AZS UMCS - Polkowice 66-67

Sixth-ranked AZS UMCS (7-7) gave a tough game to second ranked Polkowice (12-2) in Lublin on Saturday. The visitors from Polkowice managed to secure only one-point victory 67-66. However their fans expected much easier game. AZS UMCS was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 13-10 charge of Polkowice, which allowed them to win the game. International Angelika Stankiewicz (170-95, agency: Promotex) scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Nicole Michael (188-87, college: Syracuse, agency: Two Points) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American guard Jhasmin Player (178-87, college: Baylor, agency: Merit Management Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and the former international center Marta Jujka (193-88) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four AZS UMCS players scored in double figures. Polkowice have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Wisla Krakow. AZS UMCS at the other side keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Polkowice is looking forward to face Artego Bydg. (#3) in Bydgoszcz in the next round, which may be the game of the day. AZS UMCS will play on the road against MKK Siedlce and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
