The most shocking disappointment of round 18 in the Extraliga was a home defeat of 5th ranked Banska Bystrica (5-13) by sixth ranked Slovan (6-12) who outscored them by 15 points 80-65. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-65. Slovan dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Banska Bystrica's 28. They outrebounded Banska Bystrica 48-25 including a 38-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Zofia Zarevuckaa (190-95) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Lena Slezarikova (175-93) chipped in 16 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Jana Matejcikova (164-97) with 17 points and forward Miroslava Mistinova (182-97) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Slovan moved-up to fifth place. Banska Bystrica lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. Slovan are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Cassovia K. (#8) in Kosice in the next round. Banska Bystrica will play on the road against Samorin and is hoping to win this game.
