There was an upset in Stabia where higher ranked Castellammare (7-7) was defeated by eleventh ranked Viareggio (4-10) 66-59 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Viareggio dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Castellammare's 18. Viareggio forced 21 Castellammare turnovers. Guard Federica Iannucci (175-93) scored 30 points (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Lisa Tripalo (176-87) chipped in 7 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Viareggio's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Barbara Negri (184-86) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and guard Maria Gallo (168-92) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Newly promoted Viareggio maintains eleventh position in A2 with 4-10 record. Loser Castellammare dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. Viareggio will face higher ranked Viterbo (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
