Regular Season Round 14: MIA Academy - Mgzavrebi 87-91

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tbilisi: Mgzavrebi (#4) and MIA (#8). MIA was defeated at home 87-91 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. MIA was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 54-43 second half run of Mgzavrebi. They outrebounded MIA 41-28 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by MIA helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American center Reggie Murphy (208-91, college: Henderson St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Levani Grdzelidze (185-94) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Mgzavrebi players scored in double figures. American power forward Maurice Lewis-Briggs (203-90, college: Slippery Rock, agency: Mansfield and Associates) replied with 44 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (on 19-of-25 shooting from the field) and Canadian guard Emerson Murray (190-92, college: Seattle) added 5 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for MIA. MIA's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mgzavrebi have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 8-6 record. MIA lost third consecutive game. Defending champion stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost.
