Regular Season Round 14: Crema - Carugate 64-50

Very expected game when 11th ranked Carugate (4-10) was defeated on the road by second ranked Team Crema (11-3) 64-50 on Sunday. The game without a history. Team Crema led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Team Crema forced 22 Carugate turnovers and outrebounded them 49-31 including 36 on the defensive glass. Carugate was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Gilda Cerri (185-90) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Latvian forward Ieva Veinberga (185-84) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The former international forward Manuela Zanon (187-80) responded with 7 points and 10 rebounds and guard Michela Frantini (175-83) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Team Crema maintains second position in A2 with 11-3 record having five points less than leader Broni. Loser Carugate keeps the eleventh place with ten games lost. Team Crema will face Costa Masnaga (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Carugate will play against Vicenza and hope to win that game.
