Regular Season Round 15: Gran Canaria - FIATC Joventut 82-67

Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Gran Canaria (9-6) defeated 11th ranked FIATC Joventut (6-9) in Las Palmas 82-67. The game was mostly controlled by Gran Canaria. FIATC Joventut was better in fourth quarter 22-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gran Canaria shot 60.4 percent from the field and made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Gran Canaria forced 19 FIATC Joventut turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by FIATC Joventut helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Slovenian center Alen Omic (217-92) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Point guard Albert Oliver (187-78) chipped in 14 points and 9 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Guinean-American forward Ousmane Drame (206-93, college: Quinnipiac) who recorded 15 points and 4 steals and center Nacho Llovet (201-91) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gran Canaria maintains fifth place with 9-6 record. FIATC Joventut at the other side dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Gran Canaria's next round opponent will be league's second-placed FC Barcelona at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. FIATC Joventut will play against Laboral Kutxa (#3) and hope to win that game.
