Regular Season Round 14: AZS PCz - Alba Chorzow 71-80

There was a small surprise in Czestochowa where eighth ranked Alba Chorzow (7-7) defeated 5th ranked AZS PCz (8-6) 80-71 on Sunday. They outrebounded AZS PCz 47-36 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Marcin Weselak (204-79) who scored 6 points and 25 rebounds. Guard Dawid Weiss (188-88) chipped in 23 points and 6 assists. Forward Nikodem Kowalski (200-95) produced 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 blocks (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Tomasz Nogalski (192-79) added 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Alba Chorzow moved-up to sixth place in Group C, which they share with Cieszyn and Pogon RS. Loser AZS PCz keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Alba Chorzow will face AZS AWF M. II (#11) in Katowice in the next round where they are favorite. AZS PCz will play on the road against the league's leader Polonia Bytom (#1) and hope to win that game.
