Very expected game in Tianjin where 19th ranked TianJin Steel (5-24) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Qingdao Eagles (12-17) 105-95 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 31-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Qingdao Eagles outrebounded TianJin Steel 59-44 including 25 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Swingman Chengyu Zhang (193-89) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. Four Qingdao Eagles players scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Jiangsu D. TianJin Steel lost their third game in a row. They keep the nineteenth position with 24 games lost. Qingdao Eagles will meet at home higher ranked Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TianJin Steel will play against DongGuan Leopards (#9) and hope to secure a win.
