Regular Season Round 12: Villeneuve - Nantes 59-55

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (9-2) defeated at home 11th ranked Nantes Reze (3-8) 59-55. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nantes Reze won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for Greek forward Styliani Kaltsidou (188-83, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led her team to a victory with 16 points and 5 rebounds. The former international guard Virginie Bremont (177-87, agency: Comsport) contributed with 10 points for the winners. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Frederic Dusart used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and naturalized Ukrainian Yuliya Andreyeva (188-83) added 11 points in the effort for Nantes Reze. Villeneuve D'Ascq moved-up to second place, which they share with Bourges. Nantes Reze lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq's next round opponent will be league's leader Lattes Montpellier on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nantes Reze will play against Nice (#4) and hope to win that game.
