Regular Season Round 15: Real Madrid - Sevilla 107-83
Date: January 10, 2016
Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Sevilla (5-10) was outscored on the road by fourth ranked Real Madrid (12-3) 107-83. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. Sevilla was better in third quarter 29-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Real Madrid shot 63.8 percent from the field and made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Real Madrid outrebounded Sevilla 32-20 including a 22-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Real Madrid especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Sevilla helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American-Guinea-Bissau guard K.C. Rivers (196-87, college: Clemson) who scored 21 points. The former international point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Czech center Ondrej Balvin (217-92) who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Real Madrid and four Sevilla players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Laboral Kutxa. Sevilla lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Real Madrid's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena Baloncesto Fuenlabrada.
