Regular Season Round 13: Barbera - Mollet 70-66

Round 13 in EBA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Barcelona where host Barbera (6-7) beat league's leader Mollet (10-2) 70-66 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Mollet. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 70-66. 28 personal fouls committed by Mollet helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Anton Regal (202-93) fired 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Jose Bernuz (198-81) chipped in 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Barbera players scored in double figures. Swingman Marc Torres (195-86) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Xavier Costa (192-84) added 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Mollet's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Barbera moved-up to seventh place in Group C-A, which they share with Arenys. Mollet at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by L'Hospitalet. Mollet will play next round against Sant Nicolau trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Barbera will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Masnou. It will be extra interesting game as Masnou is their local rival from Barcelona.
