Very important is a road loss of third ranked CASLA (14-12) against eighth ranked Estudiantes C. (12-13) on Monday night. Visiting CASLA was defeated by Estudiantes C. in a tough game in Concordia 76-80. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CASLA won third quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CASLA was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Cuban center Javier Justiz (205-92, agency: Pro Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Dar Tucker (193-88, college: De Paul, agency: CGL Sports) supported him with 22 points. Even 14 points and 9 rebounds by the former international Marcos Mata (201-86) did not help to save the game for CASLA. American Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) added 15 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for lost side. Four CASLA players scored in double figures. Estudiantes C. moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted CASLA keeps the third position with 12 games lost. Estudiantes C. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. CASLA will play on the road against Sionista in Parana and hopes to get back on the winning track.
