Regular Season Round 13: Panathinaikos - Nea Kifisia 73-67

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#1) and Nea Kifisia (#8). Despite it looked like an easy game for Panathinaikos, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Guest Nea Kifisia challenged much higher ranked Panathinaikos giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by six points 73-67. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 25-8 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Dominican-American guard James Feldeine (193-88, college: Quinnipiac) fired 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Antonis Fotsis (209-81) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Dustin Hogue (198-92, college: Iowa St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import swingman Muhammad El-Amin (196-87, college: Stony Brook, agency: Inception Sports) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four Nea Kifisia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panathinaikos (13-0) have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 13 victories in a row. Nea Kifisia at the other side keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Apollon Patras and Trikalla. Panathinaikos are looking forward to face Aris (#4) in Thessaloniki in the next round. Nea Kifisia will play on the road against Arkadikos (#13) in Arkadia and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
